Northwood University hosting speech from FIRE advocacy director

By Noah Brasseur

Northwood University will be hosting a presentation by FIRE’s public advocacy director, Aaron Terr, on Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. It will be held in the Griswold Lecture Hall.

Terr is a former volunteer for the American Civil Liberties Union. He is expected to give a speech exploring the government’s role against the forces of the market in enabling free speech.

FIRE, or the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, is a group with the stated mission to “defend and sustain the individual rights of all Americans to free speech and free thought- the most essential qualities of liberty.”

Terr’s speech is aligned with the topic of the Bauervic Essay Competition, which is available only to high schoolers and those who attend Northwood.

This event is free and open to the public.
