About Us
The Delta Collegiate is the award-winning, non-profit newspaper for Delta College that has been student run since 1961. The Collegiate runs one print edition monthly during the fall and winter semesters. We report on campus, local and national news all while continuously working to keep our online and social media presence as current as possible for our readers.

The Delta Collegiate is an award-winning, student-run, multi-media news organization which strives to educate, entertain, and engage the Delta College community and beyond.

Awards and recognition
Since first garnering two awards from the Michigan Community College Press Association (MCCPA) in 2014, the Delta Collegiate has since gone on to be recognized for more than 100 additional awards from the MCCPA, including first place for online newspaper and general excellence.
The Delta Collegiate was also recognized for multiple awards at the 2016 Michigan Press Association convention where they competed against universities and community colleges alike.
In March of 2018 and 2019, the Collegiate staff went to New York City for the College Media Association (CMA) spring convention. Members of the staff won second place in the CMA Iron Reporter challenge in 2018. Our online newscast, the Delta Beat, won the first place Apple Award for best online newscast in the nation in 2019.
At the 2023 Michigan Community College Press Association Conference the Delta Collegiate won 19 total awards, including a second place tie for the General Excellence category and the Janet Nellis Mendler Student Journalist of the Year for our page designer, Misty Barron.
At the 2024 Michigan Community College Press Association Conference the Delta Collegiate received 19 awards, including first place for overall newspaper. At the 2024 Michigan Press Association the Delta Collegiate also received 7 awards.
At the 2025 Michigan Community College Press Association Conference the Delta Collegiate received 18 awards, including first place for overall newspaper.
At the 2025 Michigan Community College Press Association Conference the Delta Collegiate received 19 awards, including first place for editorial and social media.
