What happened with Delta’s drinking water?

Delta College Main Campus has reinstated access to all drinking fountains and water dispensers following a brief interruption in service. The disruption was due to an incident during the winterization process for the irrigation/lawn sprinkler system, which resulted in the release of sedimentation into the drinking water supply. While this caused water discoloration and potentially altered the water’s odor and taste, there is no evidence to suggest any health concerns.

As a precautionary measure and to allow for a thorough investigation, Delta temporarily closed all drinking fountains and water dispensers and provided bottled water to the campus community.

The drinking water lines were flushed, reducing the sedimentation and ensuring the safety and quality of the water supply. Campus operations have now returned to normal, and students and staff can once again enjoy access to drinking fountains and water dispensers without any health-related worries.
