Trunk-or-Treat is a smashing success at G’s Pizzeria

Over a hundred people in families from Bay City, Midland, Carrollton, and Saginaw visited G’s Pizzeria for a free Trunk-or-Treat on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at 5 p.m. There was a lineup of decorated vehicles and people handing out candy, plus a rock-climbing wall for children of all ages to enjoy.

What is a trunk-or-treat? Like an express line for trick-or-treating. Vehicles form a path for children to walk along. People deck their trunks out with Halloween decorations and pass out candy, and some have games set up as well.  Families come dressed up in costumes to have a fun and safe time.

For Tuesday’s two-hour event, the weather took a break from the rain and wind. It was chilly enough to need a coat, but overall good weather for the festivities.

Most of G’s parking lot was used for the Trunk-or-Treat route; two entrances were blocked off for safety with cones and ropes. The layout design kept everyone moving in one direction. Part of the lineup of vehicles was the rock-climbing wall, and it was the main attraction.

Seth Zube, 9, of Bay City, tried the rock-climbing wall and made it halfway up.

“It was good but hard,” he said, “because I kept putting my foot on one and slipping, some of the foot pieces were sideways. It was fun, though. I want to go again to hit the buzzer.”

Over a dozen cars and trucks were decorated with residents and businesses passing out candy, and some even had interactive games to play for prizes. One setup included two friendly dogs named Maddie, the astronaut, and Baylee, the Fairy.

Brooke Young, Saginaw, and Sarah Spagnuolo, an SVSU student, hosted a cute trunk display. Meagan Row, Saginaw, put together a spooky trunk and costume!

Though the line was constantly moving, it took a long time to get through. Ashley Leach from Saginaw attended with her children, Allia, 11, and Dennon Jr, 5. Ashley was dressed as the Mad Hatter, Allia was a Harry Potter character, and Denon was a shark.

“We had a blast and got a decent amount of candy,” Ashley said, “I wish we could have tried the rock wall, but Allia didn’t have the right shoes, and Denon’s arm is broken. I loved seeing everyone dressed up and having fun. It took about an hour to get through, but it was worth it.”

There were a plethora of different costumes, from children to adults, at this event.

Scary costumes included the Annabelle doll, Freddie Kreuger, Jason Voorhees, and the clown from IT.

There were many character costumes, and a few were: Princesses like Anna and Elsa, Power Rangers, Mario and Luigi, Spiderman, Batman, Lego guys, and Ghostbusters.

One guest in an inflatable dinosaur walked around entertaining younger children.

The most common costumes were animals: sharks, giraffes, ladybugs, cats, dogs, a baby mouse, and more. Teagan Volway, seven months from Carrollton, dressed as a mouse, complete with a piece of cheese on her wrist. Teagan visited with her mom and older sister, who dressed as princess Elsa.
