Pioneers fell short Wednesday night against Henry Ford

UNIVERSITY CENTER- Last night, The Pioneers lost against Henry Ford College, leaving the final score of 91-88 in a highly emotional game for both teams. The women’s game last night was a forfeit. While Henry Ford’s men’s team stayed in the lead consistently throughout the game, the Pioneers outscored Henry Ford in the second half and constantly met the points being scored by Henry Ford.

Jackarus Smith, number 21, had the lead for points scored for the Pioneers with 24.

Jeremiah Tarver, number 44, led the Pioneers with ten rebounds for the night, seven being defensive rebounds and three offensive rebounds.

The Pioneers held their own on the court with defense and offense, but Henry Ford held on longer in the end.

When asked about the outcome and how the team’s emotions affected them during the second half of the game, Athletic Director Dionne McCollum stated, “Our team is tied second in the conference. I’m not worried because the emotions still show they care.”

The women’s and men’s teams of Delta will play on Saturday, Feb. 19, at Delta against Alpena Community College.
