Physical Therapy class wins food drive

After weeks of competition and plenty of donations, celebration was under way in the classroom of F-130. Chris Hausbeck’s physical therapy class are this year’s Food Drive Champions as they have recently won the 6th annual March Madness Food Drive conducted by the Student Food Pantry. The goal of the food drive was to help stock Delta’s food pantry, so it could continue to serve students.

“It’s another way to help people,” says Erica Genovese, a student of Hausbeck. “My classmates are all really caring individuals and we all want to help people in any way we can.”

Genovese and her classmates aren’t shy to the thought of helping others. This is just one of the many drives they’ve taken part in this year. “We do a lot of drives. We just did a backpack drive, we did a paper drive for a shelter, we do a lot of stuff like that… I’m really proud of my class.”

Students in the field have to partake in a certain amount of civic engagement, but Hausbeck says that his students have gone above and beyond what he expected.

“I think it’s great,” says Hausbeck. “They are already making a name for themselves here at Delta, and this is just one more way that they really stand out, so I’m really proud.”
