Photoshopped to perfection

There is a way to change your whole appearance. No surgery needed. Just use photoshop. Delta College student, Kayleigh Messner, is a graphic design major. But if we’re being honest she can do it all. Whether it is painting, drawing, photography, photoshop or her specialty, graphics.

“I’ve always liked art, it was my favorite class all through school starting in elementary.” Messner dove into graphic design once she tried out photoshop. “I started to use photoshop to fix up the photos I took.” Messner is a photography enthusiast and began to mess around with photoshop to see what she could do to her pictures. One click of the mouse made her realize where she wanted to take her career.

Messner never considered any other kind of major. “Art and design was the only option.” She said with a laugh. After she started her graphic design classes she knew that she couldn’t see herself doing anything else because graphic design held all of her interests. “Everyone wants to love what they do.” And Messner does for sure.

“Technology is advancing so I thought I should do that.” Messner said when asked why she chose graphic design over another art media. “ I like to mess around with the programs and see what I can create.”

Messner is inspired by the music she is listening to. Once she hears a part of a song that relates to her she has to create something out of it. “I have to make it or it’s going to bother me.”

One day Messner hopes to sell her art. “I’ve looked into it for sure, but I don’t know if anyone would buy it that’s why I haven’t.” Although she is a little nervous if her art will actually make it somewhere it won’t stop her trying. “A good place to start would be making objects such as phone cases and prints.” Which she does have phone cases that she puts graphics on but for now they’re just for her.

Messner has been thinking of her future goals. “Working for a magazine would be cool.” She said she would even work for a company but there is no specific companies in mind. “Making logos is fun. I would like to figure out what a business wants and bring it to life.”
