Legally Blonde doesn’t bend, but snaps into production

Pit and Balcony will bring the classic Elle Woods charm to the Saginaw area with their performance of “Legally Blonde: the Musical.” Under direction of Todd Thomas, the musical will run Oct 7-9, and 14-17 at the Pit and Balcony Theatre in Saginaw.

The musical, an adaptation of the 2001 film “Legally Blonde” follows Elle Woods, played by Chelsea Mcculloch, after her long-term boyfriend Warner Cunningham III, played by Donte A. Green, decides to leave her. Elle drops everything to follow Warner to Harvard Law School.

Delta freshman Allie Williams, who will be portraying a perfume saleswoman, a sorority girl named Kate and Chutney Windham, is excited to portray characters that she grew up watching.

“I wanted to do ‘Legally Blonde’ because it’s an iconic movie of our generation. If you think of that classic 2000’s chick-flick, one of them that comes up is ‘Legally Blonde’” says Williams.

While working on “Legally Blonde,” Williams was able to assist the production by choreographing the final song for Act One, “So Much Better.” “I have choreographed before, but to choreograph a big number for a community theatre show is a big deal,” says Williams.

The musical will offer nostalgia to anyone whom has seen the titular movie, and will showcase musical numbers such as: “Gay or European,” “Blood in the Water,” “Whipped into Shape” and more.

Tickets will cost $25. More information is available at Pitandbalconytheatre.com
