BAY CITY – The Bay City Record Convention will take place Saturday, Feb. 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Essexville.
The event is being held at Amvets Post 22 on 520 N. Pine Rd, across from Meijer.
Vendors from across the state will gather to sell new and used music of different formats – including vinyl, CD and cassette – and different genres. Whether you’re into rock or blues, jazz or metal, there will be something for everyone.
The Record Convention has occurred twice per year since 2012, at the same location.
Primarily sponsored by the Michigan Record Club Facebook group, the Record Convention is also sponsored by Radio Wasteland Records in Midland, Electric Kitsch in Bay City, Bags Unlimited and John Bellsmith Design.
Bill Young, president of the Michigan Record Club, told the Collegiate that these sponsors have provided prizes, including gift certificates to Electric Kitsch and Radio Wasteland, to be included in the show’s raffle drawings.
Event host Raymond Pounds posted in the Facebook event page for the Record Convention that they will also give away record albums. His post, dated Jan. 7, included pictures of the following:
- Pink Floyd – “Dark Side of the Moon”
- Fleetwood Mac – “Rumours”
- Queen – “A Night at the Opera”
- The Doors – “Morrison Hotel”
- The Velvet Underground – “The Velvet Underground & Nico”
Admission is $1 per individual, with kids 12 and under being free. Early admission is also available from 9 to 10 a.m. for $10, providing access to vendors an hour early.
