Dolores documentary and discussion in Downtown Saginaw

DOWNTOWN SAGINAW – Join the Delta community in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a screening of the documentary film Dolores on Oct. 4 at the Downtown Saginaw campus.

“Dolores is the unsung hero,” Amy French said. “She’s really been pushed into the background of this story where she really should be in the forefront.”

The documentary follows the influential activist Dolores Huerta who co-founded the first farm workers unions alongside Cesar Chavez. Dolores is a powerful figure in racial justice, feminism, and labor rights.

“We’ll watch this documentary that tries to right the wrongs of the past and start talking about her,” French said.

The screening will be held at the Delta College Downtown Saginaw campus at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4. Following the screening, history professor and labor historian Amy French, will host a Q&A discussion to open dialogue with students and answer questions.
