Detroit Lions 1-1 after game against Buffalo Bills
The Detroit Lions eked out an overtime 31-30 win in Detroit against the New Orleans Saints for Week #1 of the NFL season this past Sunday.
The Lions are now 1-1 after a painful-to-watch 31-41 loss to the Buffalo Bills (2-0) on Thursday night. The game was never as close as the score indicated as the Lions were behind the entire game, by as much as 21 points in the 2nd quarter alone. Josh Allen and the Bills’ offense were red hot most of the game and the Lions had a difficult time looking for a way to stop the Bills. Jarred Goff and the Lion’s offense was slow to start but showed some life throughout the second half.
The offense –
The Lion’s Quarterback, Jarred Goff, completed 26 of his 38 attempted passes for 327 yards but was sacked 4 times.
The Lion’s Running Back, Jahmyr Gibbs, ran 16 times for 52 yards for 0 touchdowns. He also caught 6 of the 8 targeted passes for 61 more offensive yards and 1 touchdown.
The Lion’s Receiver, Amon-Ra St. Brown caught 9 of the 13 targeted passes for an incredible 142 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The Lion’s Tight End, Sam Laporta, stepped up and caught 6 of the 7 targeted passes for 42 yards and 1 touchdown.
The defense –
The Lion’s Defensive End, Aidan Hutchinson, sacked Allen 1 time.
The Lion’s Linebacker, Derrick Barnes, sacked Allen 1 time.
The summary –
1st quarter: the Lions were unable to put any offensive points on the board; whereas the Bills scored 2 touchdowns.
2nd quarter: the Lions scored 1 touchdown and 1 field goal at the end of the quarter; however the Bills scored 2 touchdowns.
At the half, the Lions went to the locker room behind 10-28
3rd quarter: the Lions scored 1 touchdown; unfortunately the Bills scored 1 touchdown.
4th quarter: the Lions scored 2 touchdowns; with the Bills scoring 1 touchdown.
At the end of regulation: the Lions lose 31- 41, which was as close as they ever got to the Bills.
The Lions, now 1-1, will have to come-up with some defensive improvements as they prepare for Week #3 against the New York Jets (1-0).
