UNIVERSITY CENTER – In an effort to ensure the safety of students in the COVID-19 crisis, Delta College has announced that distance learning will continue for the spring semester this year.
Jonathan Miller, dean of students, sent out an email to the student body saying that the spring semester will begin Monday, May 11.
“We are working to convert face-to-face and blended sections to an online format, and the course schedule will soon reflect those changes,” stated Miller. “Please be aware that if you previously enrolled in a face-to-face course, it will now be reformatted to allow for distance learning.”
Miller also said that the campus administration is still planning on when to open campus back up for regular student service and business operations. They are basing their decisions on changes to the coronavirus situation and guidance from government officials.
“Our plans for any type of in-person classroom instruction during spring or summer are uncertain at this time,” stated Miller. “If the health crisis circumstances change allowing Delta to reopen its buildings, in-person classroom instruction may be offered on a limited basis for courses that have a lab type component.”
Further information will always be made available on Delta’s coronavirus web page. Students are advised to contact Academic Advising (advise@delta.edu or 989-686-9330) for guidance on how best to move forward with scheduling classes in the spring, summer and fall.
