UNIVERSITY CENTER – The graduate commencement ceremony at Delta College has been postponed until an undetermined date in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Delta president Jean Goodnow announced in an email to students that the event, originally scheduled for May 1, is being postponed along with many other events scheduled for March through May.

“Of all the decisions in the past few days, this was particularly difficult because it’s very important to us to celebrate your hard work, dedication and accomplishments,” Goodnow said in the email. “However, this decision was necessary for the health and safety of the Delta community, which includes our students and their families.”

Students are still able to complete graduation requirements and receive their degrees, based on their month requested on their applications.

“I want to encourage each of you to continue working toward your goals,” said Goodnow. “I know all the recent changes and uncertainty have created additional challenges. Please reach out to us for assistance.”
