Bay City beauticians develop dreams

The students of Bayshire Beauty Academy aren’t just learning the skills to achieve their dreams, but to help make the world a more beautiful place too. Located in downtown Bay City, Bayshire offers cosmetology, nail tech and massage therapy programs that teach students the tricks and trade of being a beautician. .

The skills students learn empower them to succeed in a competitive job market and support themselves financially. At Bayshire, students form a strong community as they learn and work alongside each other and build deep, lasting, friendships.

Delta College has partnered with Bayshire Beauty Academy to offer a program in Cosmetology Business Management. Students train at Bayshire and then must pass a test to receive their license from the Michigan State Board of Cosmetology. Once they receive their certification, which counts for 20 credits toward the program, they can go on to obtain their associate in business management though Delta College. This allows students to achieve education in a trade they love, and earn a college degree at the same time.

Julie Trant has two more months until she completes the cosmetology program and is looking forward to becoming a freelance makeup artist following graduation. Some students already have career options, such as Ashely McCullen who will start a job in a salon following graduation.

These services are not only a cheaper alternative to going to a salon but is a way to offer students hands on experience working with client.
