Influential African Americans
By Latoya Williams
This year, Black History Month isn’t just about looking back. For this edition of Women On The Street, we asked the Delta students and staff: Who are their favorite influential African Americans?

“Well, for me, I’d have to
say my boss Reva Curry,
she’s the vice president of
instruction here at Delta and
I get to work with her closely,
every single day. She’s able to
provide guidance and offers
up a lot of helpful advice.”

“My Professor Amber Johnson
from the psychology department.
She is very helpful, I would say,
has been very influential. She
goes out of her way to help her
students meet their needs and goals.”

“My mom and my dad. I wouldn’t
be who I am today if it wasn’t for
them. The sacrifices my mom
made, and my dad taught me
so much. They gave so much.”

“Honestly, Michelle Obama
because of the way she
talks about things and the
way she presents herself.
I like listening to the way
she presents things.”
