Not one single food item gets people talking than pineapple on pizza. Does pineapple belong on pizza? Pineapple on pizza originated in a small town in Ontario, Canada. It was restaurant owner Sam Panopoulos who has been given credit for the creation of Hawaiian pizza. The Satellite restaurant, home of the Hawaiian pizza, primarily offered American dishes like cheeseburgers, but in the 1960s, they expanded their horizon by adding pizza to the menu. Why canned pineapple on pizza was created remains a mystery today. Still, it was a good creation because pineapple on pizza is a perfect combination of sweet and salty mixed together.

Since the creation of pineapple on pizza, it has been a highly argued idea; some people like it, and some just think it is weird. On the other hand, I think that pineapple on pizza is the best idea ever to exist. At first, when I heard the concept of Hawaiian pizza, I was weirded out by its concept. However, I will never forget the first time I tried to taste that sweet, salty, and savory flavor. When I put the pizza in my mouth, I was overwhelmed by the sweet pineapple, then the salty sauce kicked in, along with the savory flavor of the ham. There is also one more thing to consider when you are eating this fantastic creation; pineapple on pizza has more health benefits than just eating regular pepperoni and sausage pizza. Pineapple has a massive source of vitamin C, potassium, and fiber. When I think about it, you can’t just hate on something good for your health, and that gives you the vitamins and supplements you need in one big meal. I know where people are coming from who don’t like pineapple on their pizza because it is weird to mix fruit with tomato sauce. Even I thought it was an odd idea at first, but if you just close your eyes and not think about it, it probably wouldn’t taste that bad to other people.  Now, I know that we all love chowing down on a big slice of pizza, but we all tend to regret that decision just a few hours later. But remember that pineapple is a fruit just like tomatoes, so adding pineapples to tomato sauce is like having a healthy, nutritious snack.

We all may disagree, but pizza is just pizza, and it will continue to be there for all of us when we need it the most. And keep in mind that there are worse things than pineapple on pizza; you could be eating vegetables on pizza.
