Michigan House of Representatives 94th district
Vincent Mosca is the democratic candidate for the Michigan House of Representatives from the 94th district, according to Ballotpedia. The Michigan House of Representatives website breaks down the districts and shows that the 94th district includes Saginaw Township, Thomas Township, Tittabawassee Township. As stated by The Review website, Vincent Mosca is a high school teacher at the Saginaw County Transition Academy. After graduating from Delta College with his Associate of Arts Degree in 1989, he continued his education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where he received his B.A. in English in 1991. Mosca also has 18 credits earned towards his M.A. in Educational Leadership at Central Michigan University.
Tim Kelly is the republican candidate from the 94th district for the Michigan House of Representatives, according to Ballotpedia. Tim Kelly’s website states that he has served in several workforce and economic development positions in Indiana, including Executive Director of the Indiana Council on Vocational Education. When Governor John Engler asked Kelly to be his Education Policy Advisor in 1995, Kelly moved to Saginaw. In 2010, representing Saginaw Township, Kelly was elected a Saginaw County Commissioner. After finishing second for the Michigan House of Representatives seat from the 94 district in 2006, Kelly was elected to be the chairman of the Saginaw County Republican Party. Kelly holds a B.A. in Mass Communications from the University of Denver.
Michigan House of Representatives 95th district
Vanessa Guerra is the democratic candidate for the 95th district, as stated by Ballotpedia. According to her website, she double majored in Latino Studies and Political Science at the University of Michigan. In 2012, Guerra ran for Bridgeport Township Trustee. She served as a Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan Intern in the Saginaw County Prosecutor’s Office in the summer of 2013 and as a volunteer advocate for victims of domestic violence in the Third Judicial Circuit Court in fall 2013. Guerra is currently focusing on public interest law at the University of Detroit Mercy law school.
Jordan Haskins is the republican candidate from the 95th district, as stated by Ballotpedia. The 95th district includes Bridgeport, Buena Vista, Carrollton, the City of Saginaw, and the City of Zilwaukee. According to his website, Jordan Haskins is currently a student at Maranatha Baptist University. He says his three main priorities if he is elected are, “Eliminating Common Core State Standards here in Michigan, work with his fellow representatives to improve Saginaw’s business climate, and reduce [the] tax burden on lower and middle class citizens”.
Michigan House of Representatives 96th district
Charles Brunner is the democratic candidate from the 96th district for the Michigan House of Representatives, according to Ballotpedia. As broken down by the Michigan House of Representatives website, the 96th district includes Bay City, Essexville, and Kawkawlin. Brunner grew up in Bangor Township and is a graduate of John Glenn High School, according to vote-mi.org. He received an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Delta College. He then continued to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Marketing Education, and a Master’s degrees in Business Education and Secondary School administration. Brunner served as Mayor of Bay City from 2007 through 2010 and as Bay City Commission President in 2006. He is the current representative from the 96 district.
Carlos Jaime is the 96th district republican candidate for the Michigan House of Representatives, according to Ballotpedia. Jaime graduated from Saginaw High School in 1972 and soon after joined the U.S. Navy, according to an interview done by MLive. In 1975, after serving in Florida on the USS Lexington, Jaime moved back to Michigan and attended Delta College. Jaime said in the interview that he is a supporter of increasing tourist initiatives in the area and increasing emergency planning.
Michigan House of Representatives 31st district
Ron Mindykowski is the democratic candidate from the 31st district for the Michigan Senate, as stated by Ballotpedia. The Michigan Senate website shows that the 31st district is largely made up of Bay County. According to his website, Mindykowski is a teacher at Bay City Western High School and has served as their drama director for over 25 years. Mindykowski earned his degree in Communication and Theater, starting at Delta College and continuing on to Western Michigan University. He has a Master’s Degree from Marygrove College. As stated on his website, his priorities include fighting to increase education funding, cutting taxes on middle class families and seniors, promoting higher education, and supporting job growth so people stay in the area after they graduate.
Mike Green is the republican candidate for the Michigan Senate from the 31st district, according to Ballotpedia. As stated on his website, Green was elected to the state Senate in 2010. He served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 1995-2001. Green owned and operated Green’s Log Rails and Custom Log Furniture from 2003-2010. He currently serves as chairman of three subcommittees for the Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development, Environmental Quality, and Natural Resources. Green is also Chairman of the Senate Second Amendment Caucus and Senate Chair of the Michigan Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus.
Michigan House of Representatives 32nd district
Stacy Erwin Oakes is the democratic candidate from the 32nd district running for state Senate, as stated by Ballotpedia. As shown on the Michigan Senate website, the 32nd district is largely made up of Saginaw County. As stated on her website, Oakes is a former Assistant Attorney General, public school teacher, and corrections officer. According to Ballotpedia, Oakes is currently the 95st district representative in the Michigan House of Representatives. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Ferris State University and is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Law.
Ken Horn is the republican candidate running for state Senate from the 32nd district, according to Ballotpedia. According to his website, Horn was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in 2006. He is currently the Republican Vice Chairman of the House Energy and Technology Committee and serves on several other committees. He was a Saginaw County Commissioner for 14 years, representing Birch Run Township, Bridgeport Township, and Frankenmuth. Horn received his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Concordia University. He has also completed Michigan State University’s Michigan Political Leadership Program.
