Calling all students, staff, and community members – this is your once-in-a-lifetime chance to fill your 2017 spring break with culture, exploration, and education in six different locations on the island of Cuba.
The nine-day international adventure has been coordinated by Felicia Peters, professor of business, and Crystal McMorris, assistant professor of English. From March 3 through the 11, everyone will have the opportunity to explore and learn, as well as earn credits for News Writing (ENG 116/217) or international business courses.
The cost for the trip starts at $4,075 per person (for students) and go up to $4,315 for travelers over the age of 30. With this rate, you’ll be locked in through the end of Aug. and this will cover all of your expenses as well.
Included in this is the faculty and local guides, round trip airfare from MBS, transfers from airport to hotel, three square meals in Cuban paladars, entrance fees, full-time services of an EF Tour Director and Cuban tour director, medical insurance in Cuba and visa processing. Delta tuition is additional if the trip is taken for a credit. These fees are at the regular Delta rate for a two credit course.
Students will have scholarship opportunities available when the trip gets closer, and a fundraiser will take place to cut costs and to help fund students.
The group will visit Miami, Havana, Mayabeque Province, Zapata national park, Cienfuegos, Trinidad, and Santa Clara for photo tours, visiting local artisan galleries, national museums, nature reserves, farms, architecture, and more.
EF Tours is the travel group providing the itinerary and a local professional tour guide.
“Safety is our number one priority,” confirmed Peters.
“We’re looking to form partnerships and to be able to go back, said Peters. “These travel abroad opportunities are amazing for our students.”
