TNA star Chris Bey suffers tragic injury

By Austin Gonzales

DETROIT – During TNA’s Bound for Glory weekend at Wayne State University, an unfortunate accident occurred when wrestler Chris Bey sustained a serious neck injury. Bey underwent successful neck surgery on the night of Oct. 27 and has begun to show improvement.

During TNA’s second night in Detroit, the company was taping matches for its weekly program, iMPACT!, and featured a tag bout between Jeff and Matt Hardy and Chris Bey and Ace Austin. As the match progressed, Bey battled Jeff Hardy on the top turnbuckle in the corner. Jeff launched Bey back-first into the canvas, with Matt Hardy catching Bey in a neckbreaker maneuver. What was supposed to be a safe stunt turned into a mistimed accident. Bey landed on his neck and immediately rolled to the side of the ring, raised his arms, and began wiggling his fingers.

The venue went quiet. Jeff and Matt continued their match in the ring with just Ace Austin, while the referee responded to Bey’s alarming situation. The other wrestlers were made aware of the situation and ended the contest. The medical response team swarmed the ring and escorted Bey to the nearest hospital for an emergency neck survey in Detroit.

TNA Wrestling has continuously updated fans about Bey’s condition, and rest assured, he is doing well and in good spirits. Unfortunately, the match is still far from over.
