The genre “emo,” a style of rock music utilizing emotional and confessional lyrics, has continued to make its point across musically. The raw and heartfelt emotion expressed shows how a band’s writing and delivery can affect another.
The Hotelier’s “Home, Like Noplace Is There” has exceeded those expectations that some may have, and will pull a first time listener right in. Providing nine powerful tracks that rip through subjects like gender identity and tragic loss, The Hotelier has created something more than just another record; this is a breakthrough album and they have something to say.
By the end of the album I was filled with strong emotion and hoped the narrator finds what he’s looking for. The album had a huge impact on me, and leaves me wanting to restart the album.
