SVSU’s president to speak at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Prayer Breakfast

SAGINAW – The Gamma Kappa Chapter of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. is holding its annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Prayer Breakfast. The breakfast is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 27 at 10 a.m. at the Trillium Banquet Center in Saginaw.

This special event is all about celebrating King’s legacy and bringing people together for a morning of inspiration, conversation, and a shared commitment to making Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of hope and equality a reality.

George Grant Jr., A Detroit native, is the keynote speaker for this event. Beyond being the first person of color to take the reins as president of SVSU, Grant’s commitment to collaboration, inclusion, and diversity makes him a perfect fit. 

The theme for this year’s event is “We will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope.” This powerful theme reflects the spirit of Martin Luther King, Jr. –  turning tough times into chances for good things to happen.

Tickets for this event are $45. Advanced donations can be made to Gamma Kappa Chapter on Venmo or to $Gamma Kappa Chapter on Cash App. Tickets will also be available to purchase at the event venue.
