Cassidy Reichard, an occupational therapy major, is coming off a major knee injury last season.
“The first season I played softball for Delta, I hurt my knee in one of our fall ball tournaments,” explains Reichard. “That put me out for the rest of the season, and I had a surgery that next April.”
She’s struggled to stay healthy throughout her softball career, but is finally feeling 100 percent as she enters the season.
“Since my sophomore year of high school I have torn my ACL twice and have had three surgeries on it,” says Reichard.
She has played extremely well to start off her junior college career, hitting an incredible .586 and nine runs scored. She’s really set the table from the leadoff spot, and it finally getting a chance to contribute.
“During the offseason I worked on rehabilitating my knee and working on my hitting and throwing,” explains Reichard. “Personally, my goal this year is to stay confident and think before every pitch.”
Outside of her work on the field, she’s a relatively normal college student.
“I like to hang out with my family and friends,” says Reichard. “I enjoy going hunting at my cabin, and in the summer I like to go camping, fishing and going to concerts.”
Reichard is planning on transferring to Saginaw Valley State University after this year. She’s unsure of what the future has for her softball career, but right now she’s just enjoying getting a chance to go out and play.
