Delta College instructor Kathie Marchlewski makes a run for Bay County Commissioner

By Austin Gonzales

UNIVERSITY CENTER – Delta College has been home to many remarkable individuals, both students and staff. You can never predict the futures of those you pass in the halls, just like Kathie Marchlewski. The celebrated instructor at Delta College is now running for 2nd district Bay County Commissioner.

Marchlewski, a Democrat, will face off against the current 2nd district County Commissioner, Tim Banaszak, a Republican. The 2nd district encompasses Bangor Township and Kawkawlin Township in Bay County.

On campus, Marchlewski is a valuable member of Delta’s English department. Many students have taken her classes, particularly ENG-111 and ENG-112, where she encourages them to express their feelings, passions and ideas through compelling essays.

Her positive influence is reflected in anonymous student reviews, like those found on RateMyProfessor.

“I had Kathie for ENG 111 & 112,” one student wrote. “I quickly developed a great relationship with her. She is laid back and genuinely cares about her students. I’d recommend taking her in person—she makes it a fun and interesting environment.”
The election season is just around the corner. Make sure you are registered to vote by going to mi.gov/vote or vote.gov.
