Pistons stay hot, defeat Hawks

The Detroit Pistons continued their hot streak in the month of January by defeating the Atlanta Hawks 114-104 on Wednesday.

Two Pistons had double doubles: Cade Cunningham had 29 points and 11 assists while Jalen Duren had 14 points and 12 rebounds. Ausar Thompson recorded 16 points and three steals, Malik Beasley scored 19 points and Simone Fontecchio had 13. Tim Hardaway Jr. had an off night though, going one for eight on field goals and recording three points.

The win represented two significant milestones for the Pistons. This win was the ninth for the team this month, meaning at worst their record for the month would be 9-7. This is the first month since March of 2019 that the Pistons will be over .500. Second, the win secured the team their 23rd win of the season, which matches their best season since 2019.

The Pistons sit sixth in the Eastern Conference and if the hot streak can continue, will be a lock for a playoff spot.
