At first, baskets didn’t come easy for the Lady Pioneers against the Henry Ford Hawks on Jan. 21. The Hawks started the game on a 6-0 run and forced the Pioneers to call timeout 2 minutes into the game. But after that, things started rolling and couldn’t stop.

Mercedez Willis led the way with 14 points in the first half as the Pioneers rallied and led 51-27 after 20 minutes of play. The closest Henry Ford got to the Pioneers was 24-16, halfway through the first half.

The Pioneers took care of business in the second half and even hit the 100 point mark at the end of the game to secure the victory, 101-60.

Leading the way for Delta was Willis with 20, Jade Abenth with 18, Cassidy Vieau with 17, Champagne Arthur with 15, while Kennedy James added 12, Megan Marvin and Dy’Mond Perry with 9 each, and Deveree Denson added a basket.

On the Hawks side, Taylor Wells had 12 and Sydney Holmes had 11 while Charneka Jones, Raven Kelly and Mariah Anderson had 10. Keyanna Austin also tallied 6.
