South Bend, Ind. has been a town known for music in recent years. The city hosts the well known Sounds by South Bend Festival which is in its third year. They also have unique concert venues like The Pool, a former high school pool and The Well, a non-profit coffee house venue, available for showgoers.
Interstate Traffic, an up-and-coming band out of South Bend, will soon meet the rest of the Midwest with their new release. Their extraordinary vocals and well-composed instrumentation will catch your ear upon the first listen.
Their debut E.P. titled “If That Really Is Your Name” was released on Nov. 14. The album provides six diverse tracks, ranging from jazz infused indie rock to sincere and tranquil vocals which complement the E.P. respectively.
Interstate Traffic has been around for almost two years and will continue to rise as they plan to hit the road in 2016. With a debut E.P., a single release and plenty of shows under their belt, their new year is looking bright. This will be a band to watch out for.
A good song to start out with is “Neon Jewels” which provides creative, well thought out lyrics like “I’d rather be righteous or holy than famous” and “I’ve been dancing around on a beautiful night, complete with streetlights, neon jewels in my crown.” It is best to listen to after a long day as the album will bring you into a relaxing night.
Interstate Traffic is in for an important and big year as they set out to support their newest release. I can honestly say to keep your eyes peeled as they may be approaching the Tri-City area very soon.
