Smoke wafted from 5543 Christyway Drive in Bay City on the afternoon of Dec. 1. Monitor Township Fire Department, Bangor Township Fire Department, Frankenlust Fire Department, and Bay City Fire Department were all on the scene putting out the fire. According to Monitor Township Fire Department Chief, John Kramer, the call came in at 12:02 p.m.
The homeowner is currently out of town but relatives were living in the house. Kramer says that one of the relatives was watching television this morning and noticed that some smoke was coming from behind the television. According to Kramer, the fire actually started in the garage but the cause is not yet known.
The fire departments were able to contain the fire to the garage and attic though there is smoke damage throughout the home, which is currently uninhabitable.
There were no injuries and the relatives of the homeowners were able to get the animals in the house out as well.
