“A Haunting in Venice” is Kenneth Branagh’s third return to the director’s chair for his next Hercule Poirot film based on the Agatha Christie mystery novels. This story brings us to a retired Detective Poirot trying to live out his days in Venice, Italy until a novelist sparks his curiosity with a séance. The gumshoe attends the ritual only for things to go awry and a dead body is found among them. Also starring Michelle Yeoh and Tina Fey.
“The Exorcist” franchise returns to theaters for the first time in nearly twenty years with “The Exorcist: Believer”, directed by David Gordon Green. Green, coming fresh off the new Halloween sequel trilogy, is looking to take his reins at the helm with another classic horror film franchise. “The Exorcist: Believer” stars Leslie Odom Jr as Victor, who is still suffering from the trauma of his wife’s tragic passing thirteen years prior. Victor’s teen daughter, Angela, takes her best friend Katherine to the woods to perform a sacred ritual in hopes for Angela to speak to her mother. Unfortunately, what they unleash is much more sinister.
Tobin Bell returns to the big screen to reprise the role of John Kramer in the tenth film of the SAW franchise. “SAW X” takes the series back to its roots of having a traditional Halloween time window release date and ups the ante on all the gory traps and contraptions. “SAW X” serves as sequel to the first film but a prequel to “SAW II” as we join in the timeline around when John Kramer was given his fatal diagnosis in the series.
