Halloween in full effect

By Sydnee Smith, Guest Columnist.

Halloween is right around the corner. Many students at Delta College have already got their costumes ready for some of the latest parties in the Tri- City area. Some people might say that Halloween is just for children but for the students at Delta it is way more than that.

Gabriel Hernandez, a student studying nursing, is very excited about this holiday. “I plan to be a pirate,” Hernandez said. “One of my best buddies is having a house party at his place in Midland; everyone is required to wear a costume and it should be a pretty great time.”

Hernandez is not the only one ready to dress up and party.

Jordan Daniels, a student studying broadcasting, seems very excited about this upcoming holiday. “This year for Halloween I am dressing up as a police officer, you can catch me at my best friend’s party in Mount Pleasant!” Daniels excitedly said. “My best friend is even having a costume competition and I think I stand a good chance in winning.”

House parties seem to be the go to this year for many students. For students who aren’t so into the party scene, there are alternative activities that exist.

“I am obsessed with my three-year old-niece, and the thought of missing her grow up makes me sick so I’m spending Halloween trick or treating with her while her mom is at work.” said My’traya Kennedy, a student studying dental assisting. “After trick or treating I’m going with a few friends to a haunted house in St. Charles so that should be fun.”

Kennedy is not the only one who is celebrating this holiday by going to a haunted house.

“This Halloween I plan to go to a haunted house with friends. I just want to do something festive that doesn’t include being around a bunch of drunk guys and girls dressed like sluts,” said Johnna Cheney, a student studying radiology.
