FRANKENMUTH – The Bavarian Inn Lodge has received funding approval from Gov. Whitmer and Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) for a major expansion that will create 71 jobs and generate a capital investment of $80 million. This addition will bring a new building with an indoor waterpark and family entertainment space making it the largest indoor waterpark in Michigan at 140,000-square-foot.
“The expansion of the Bavarian Inn Lodge will bring a new waterpark, create good-paying jobs, and build on the vibrancy and amenities that already exist in downtown Frankenmuth,” said Gov. Whitmer in a press release.
The project is expected to be finished in the spring of 2024, but the existing family fun center will remain open. Some parts of the new area are expected to open late fall of 2023.
“The city of Frankenmuth is one of Michigan’s most popular destinations,” said Dave Lorenz, Vice President of Travel Michigan, part of MEDC. “And the Bavarian Inn is one of the top attractions in Frankenmuth.”
