Lauren Rogers, a criminal justice major, is a freshman forward from Bay City, and one of the newest members of the Lady Pioneers basketball team. She’s been playing basketball for 12 years and has always regarded her greatest strength as being on the offensive side of the floor.
“Offense has just always come naturally to me. It’s something I always excelled in even at the lower level,” says Rogers. “I think what makes me such a good offensive player is having the ability to be versatile. Whether coach wanted me to play the post or shooting guard, I could.”
In her days at Bay City Central high school she was awarded first team all-valley, most improved, honorable mention all-state and she led the valley in scoring. She’s coming into her first season at Delta with high expectations for herself on the court and in the classroom
“My goals for this season would be to just work as hard as I possibly can and try to average 12 or maore points per game,” says Rogers. “In the classroom, I aim for all B’s if not higher.”
Rogers is currently averaging 8.1 PPG and is leading the team with an 88.2 FT percentage. She’s a proud Lady Pioneer and loves the atmosphere the team has.
“My favorite thing about playing at Delta is the sort of family, not only the girls but the boys team as well,” explains Rogers, “it’s unlike my high school team where only a few of us got along. Now, I feel the entire team meshes pretty well.”
