Food Pantry runs 6th annual food drive competition

If you’re feeling competitive, and looking to win yourself bragging rights, you may be interested in this event. The Student Food Pantry will hold its 6th Annual March Madness Food Drive Competition, and will run until Friday, April 1.

The aim of the competition is for classes to donate more non-expired, non-perishable food items than any other class. All donations serve to help stock the Delta Student Food Pantry. Suggested non-perishable food items include: microwavable meals, protein bars, pasta noodles, canned vegetables, fruit cups, etc. The food pantry is also accepting cash donations.

Each food item donated by your class will grant you one point, and every $1 donated will earn your class two points. At the end, points are averaged by the number of points per student, so smaller classes will still be able to compete with fairly large classes.

Donations will be accepted on-campus in the LLIC, and in the main office of all off-campus buildings. If you are donating cash on-campus, the donations should be dropped off at the Foundation Office located at A-013.

“We do have an awesome trophy,” says Michelle White, assistant-director of the Student Food Pantry. Along with a trophy, students will receive a certificate of achievements for their portfolios and the class that donates the most will win the title of “Food Drive Champions,” and they will also win a food party.

If you have any questions you can visit the Student Food Pantry Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can also contact the Director of the Student Food Pantry, Jennifer Duncan, at jenniferduncan@delta.edu
