MIDLAND – In honor of MLK Day, a special day of service, Dow Diamond hosted a drive-through food distribution event on Monday, Jan. 16, in the parking lot. Anyone was welcome to attend, and no identification or verification of income was required.
The event was set up as a mobile food pantry, allowing attendees to stay in their cars while volunteers put food directly in their vehicles. The community had the opportunity to get a mix of fresh and nonperishable food items at no cost. A mobile food pantry event typically helps approximately 150 families in each distribution.
Volunteers from Corteva Agriscience, The Arc of Midland, and students in the community joined into help throughout the event. It is unknown exactly how many volunteers in total there were as many showed up without registering to volunteer and stayed as long as they were able to.
