On April 11, 2015, the Delta College English Division is sponsoring an International TableTop Day event at Creative 360 in Midland.
The event will takes place from 2-4 p.m. Food and games will be provided, but attendees are welcome to bring their own game. This is also a family-friendly event.
International TableTop Day was founded three years ago by the Geek and Sundry online community to promote people coming together through tabletop gaming.
Vince Locke, of Delta’s English division, says that, “Gaming brings together people of all ages through a shared love of games, free of divisive politics and social issues. Gaming fosters diversity, communication, problem solving, critical thinking and storytelling.”
When referring to Tabletop gaming, Locke says it, “incorporates all kinds of games, from card games to board games to pen and paper role-playing games. That includes ‘traditional’ games like euchre and Monopoly to newer games like Magic: the Gathering and Munchkin.”
Commenting on his involvement, Locke has been, “gaming for several years, last year was the first time I participated in a TableTop Day event,” and that, “It was immensely fun and introduced me to the local gaming clubs in the tri-cities. It was a great way to meet people and see how widespread and diverse the tabletop community is.”
Take advantage of the English Division’s membership to Creative 360 on April 11 and “meet our students off campus in a less academic setting that encourages creativity,” says Locke. For more information, e-mail Locke at VinceLocke@delta.edu, or head to Tabletopday.com.
