The Hoyt Library Auditorium is hosting a speaking event in honor of Black History Month on Feb. 19 from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
The event features speaker Dr. Kenneth Jolly, Professor of History and Chairperson of the Black Studies program at SVSU. The title of his presentation is “Black Liberation and the Fight Against Police Brutality in the Interwar Years.”
Through the years between World War I and World War II organizations both local and national fought systematic racism and police brutality in coalition with the Black Freedom Movement. This presentation explores the efforts of those in the movement along with the lasting effects it has and the lessons it offers today.This event will be held at the Hoyt Library Auditorium located at 505 Janes Ave. Saginaw, Mich.
