Delta College is hosting a series of “themes” throughout the month of October in honor of domestic violence awareness month.
“What we did was partner with our local domestic violence shelters,” says Loyce Brown, Title IX and Equity Officer. “Each one of those organizations came to the table and said, ‘here’s the campaigns we’re doing in our community.’ ”
Students will be able to take photos of themselves participating in each week’s theme then post the photo on Facebook using the hashtag #deltacollegecares and tagging @CampusLifeAtDeltaCollege. Photos will be entered into a contest and the winners will be announced at the end of the month.
“Domestic violence is not just a personal matter. It attacks our society; it attacks our college,” she says. “When one person is getting hurt, it affects everyone in our community, everyone around them.
