Delta College student Christiana Haight has been awarded first place in the League for Innovation’s 2023 -24 Student Literary Awards competition for her poem, “Your Yellow Paint.” Haight’s work was selected as the top entry in the national poetry category following her winning first place in Delta’s local creative writing contest.
The League for Innovation, a national nonprofit supporting community colleges, holds an annual literary contest with entries from colleges across the country. Haight’s poem, chosen by Professor Donny Winter, impressed the competition’s national panel.
As part of her award, Haight will have her poem published in the League’s upcoming literary anthology “Tides, Currents, and Waterways.” Delta College, a long-time partner of the League for Innovation, is proud to see one of its students gain national recognition.
Haight’s win highlights the talent thriving at Delta College and serves as an example of the exciting opportunities available to student writers.
