This past season, both the baseball and softball teams experienced varying levels of success. The softball team, considered to be in a rebuilding year, came through to triple their win total from 2015. They finished at 19-24 for the year and were eliminated in the District J tournament, But, for a team with no expectations, the softball team accomplished what they set out to.
Standouts from the season include Shelby Bailey, who hit .457 in 40 games, along with going 2-4 as the second starter, and Jenson Tchorzynski, who also had a great year on the mound going 14-8 with an ERA of just 1.80.
The baseball team entered the year with a championship or bust mentality, and, although they ultimately failed to reach their goal, the 31-22 record they had speaks for itself. The team was eliminated in the region XII tournament on a controversial out-call trying to advance to third on a throwing error.
Some standouts include Dean Marais, who led the team in HR and doubles while hitting .379. Pitching wise, Colin Meachem went 8-0 with 3.94 ERA. The team will look to bounce back next season with a new crop of players.
