Do you ever find yourself wanting to play music for personal use or to entertain a group of people but wondering how you can do it without taking up a big footprint? Look no further than the Bluetooth Jam Plus wireless speaker by HMDX.
The Jam Plus speaker comes in a variety of different colors ranging from blue, grey, purple, yellow, and pink. The Plus has the ability to be used as a speakerphone when you have your cell phone connected via bluetooth. Also, if you buy two of the speakers you are able to get stereo sound by setting one of the speakers to L for [left] and R for [right].
Some of the other features the Jam Plus has are:
- A bluetooth wireless range up to 30 feet. It’s rechargeable (built-in lithium-ion battery) so you can get up to six hours of continuous play time.
- Comes equipped with an auxiliary in slot, so you can play your music with a cable if your device doesn’t have bluetooth (and if you use the aux in slot, you can get up to 12 hours of playback).
- Make a seamless transition from listening to your favorite music to taking a phone call.
- It has voice prompts to alert you when the battery is getting low and needs to be charged, when your device has been paired with it, and gives a voice indication when you have reached your maximum volume output.
- It comes with a mini-USB charging cord, which can be plugged into a wall charging adaptor (three hours approximate charge time).
- When you have the speaker connected via bluetooth the speaker battery level will show up right next to the battery level on your cell phone or other device so you can keep track of when the speaker needs to be recharged.
One of the other nice components of the Jam Plus is the packaging the company decided to use for it. The Jam Plus comes in a plastic jar that is made to look like a “Jelly” jar, and it makes for a nice sturdy container for travel or just for storage when you are not using the Jam speaker.
What’s more impressive is the sound output (three watts RMS) of this little speaker. The Jam Plus does not take up much room, its big enough to fit in the palm of your hand, and yet for such a small speaker it delivers when it comes to rich sound and bass (100Hz-18kHz response).
I personally decided to purchase a second Jam Plus speaker just to see how well the stereo sound feature worked. I was able to pair both speakers to my phone after setting one speaker to L [left] and the other to R [right]. I turned them both up to maximum volume, and set one in my living room and the other in the kitchen, while I washed dishes and I felt like the whole house was filled with sound. For such a tiny unit that’s saying a lot.
The Jam Plus only costs $49.99 (or if you shop around around on sites like Amazon you may be able to get it for less). As of Aug. 25, Amazon is selling the grey Jam Plus for $27.99 and the blue Jam Plus for $29.99, and for as many features and sound that it has it is definitely worth the expense. For $100 (or less depending on where you purchase) you could buy two to experience the full stereo surround sound.
Whether you are looking for a speaker for jamming out privately to your favorite tunes, or you are interested in having speakers in order to entertain an entire room of people, then check out the Jam Plus by HMDX. It really is the little speaker, with the large sound.
