A second Detroit Lions’ victory 

After a long struggle, the Detroit Lions came out 31-24 against the New York Jets.

This past Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Ford Field, the Detroit Lions played the New York Jets. Both teams entered the game 1-1. 

The first quarter was terribly uneventful. Neither team scored a single point. 

The Lions started the second quarter with a field goal by Jake Bates. The New York Jets scored a touchdown with a 24 yard pass, putting the Jets in the lead. But that didn’t last for long, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown caught a pass from Jared Goff, putting the Lions up 10-7. 

In the third quarter, Jahmyr Gibbs rushed 17 yards to the end zone for another touchdown. Later, the Jet’s kicker, Jason Sanders, brought his team three points closer with a field goal. 

Seconds into the fourth quarter, Gibbs returned for a one yard rush, scoring another touchdown. The Jets found the end zone twice, tying the game 24-24. With 2:25 on the clock, Gibbs hopped into the end zone for one more touchdown. With the remaining time, Jet’s quarterback Geno Smith was sacked by Chuck Clark. After a fumble recovery by Jack Campbell, the ball was freed from enemy hands. 

The Detroit Lions won with a final score of 31-24, bringing this season’s record to 2-1. 

Running back Jahmyr Gibbs brought his game face to today’s game, scoring three of the four touchdowns made. He carried the ball 20 times, for a total of 99 yards and two touchdowns. He received seven of his eight targets for a total of 65 yards and one touchdown. 

Detroit’s quarterback, Jared Goff, completed 25 of his 32 attempted passes. He gained 269 yards for his team and threw for two touchdowns. He was sacked twice. 

Amon-Ra St. Brown caught four of his eight targets for a total of 19 yards and one touchdown. 

Let’s hope the Lions bring the same drive to next Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers.
