Earth Day conservation efforts in mid-Michigan

Mount Pleasant Earth Day Celebration
The city of Mount Pleasant is hosting an Earth Day celebration on Day of the week, April 22 at the Farmers Market Pavillion at Island Park, located at 331 N. Main St.
There will be activities during the day, different food trucks for people to eat at and a waste audit demonstration for those who attend.
The event will run from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
2026 Bay City’s Earth Day Celebration
Bay City is hosting a cleanup event on Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Transfer Station Recycling Center, located at 2900 N. Water St.
They are offering services for recycling, paper shredding, tire disposal, rebates for recycling qualifying appliances and more.
Some accepted items include batteries, eyeglasses, flat screen TVs, freezers and ink jet cartridges.
Items not accepted include barrels/drums, building materials, car parts, combustible materials and smoke detectors.
Rebates are available for Bay City Electric residential customers. You must bring a copy of your utility bill and items must be clean and operable. Refrigerators must be between 10-30 cubic feet. Learn more about appliance recycling at www.BayCityEnergySmart.org.

Learn to plant and care for trees
Little Forks Conservancy is hosting a tree planting event in Midland at Three Ponds, located at 2739 West North Union road. on Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Those who attend this free event will learn about proper tree planting techniques and care during the workshop with Little Forks and Forester Mike Dittenber.
Dress for walking and working outdoors. Closed toe shoes are a requirement while long pants are recommended. Attendees can bring shovels and gloves for tree planting, but Little Forks will provide tools as well.
Volunteers will meet at the preserve parking lot located east of Midland on West N. Union road. A staff member will be waiting to direct volunteers.
