Little Forks Conservancy to Host Volunteer Open House

By Mikaila Bluew, Delta College Student Submission

Community members interested in local conservation can learn how to get involved during a volunteer open house hosted by Little Forks Conservancy.

The drop-in event will take place on March 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Pizza Sam’s located at 102 W. Main St. In Midland. The event is free and open to the public, and pizza will be provided.

Conservancy staff will be available to answer questions and discuss the organization’s volunteer opportunities. Activities include citizen science monitoring, native plantings, preserve maintenance workdays, trash cleanups and invasive species removal projects.

The conservancy works to protect and improve natural environments across mid-Michigan and has helped safeguard more than 4,000 acres of land, including over 20 miles of waterways and shoreline.

More information about the event and how to get involved with local conservancy efforts can be found at littleforks.org.
