Turkey Talk
Students say no-thanks to some T-day menu items

Thanksgiving has classic dishes that hit the table every year, but some students say they’ll pass on what they see as overrated menu items on the holiday menu.
Brock Binder, a member of the Delta baseball team, had a hot take on the most overrated dish at Thanksgiving.
“It might be controversial, but lowkey turkey,” Binder said. “If you have a ham, it’s honestly so much better. Turkey’s fine and all but I like ham. I get turkey is the whole thing, but I think ham overshines it.”

Preston Mata, a student at Delta, gave a blunt and forward answer when he was asked about his take on the most overrated Thanksgiving dish.
“Turkey.”
Christian Comment, another Delta student agreed, saying, “It’s good, but it’s not the main.”
Cranberry sauce was also denounced by many students that were informally polled last week. The consensus is that it is not enjoyable enough to be a main attraction.
“I think that half the time it’s just sitting on the counter, and nobody actually reaches for it. It’s not a staple.” said Jessica Culbert when asked why cranberry sauce doesn’t get love on Thanksgiving.

Cranberry sauce made another appearance when Guillermi Manuela was asked about their hot take. “I think it’s good but not like supreme right?”
Another staple that doesn’t live up to the hype for some Delta students is stuffing.
Jaiden McClain said he’d choose asparagus over stuffing. “I’d rather have more veggies and less carbs.”

McClain’s friend, Anthony Coleman, chimed in.
“I’d rather see baked beans,” he said. “Nobody in my family ever cooks them.” Coleman, who relocated to Saginaw from Flint, was playing basketball in the gym. “I know you’re gonna think I’m crazy but I would rather have regular potatoes.”
