Women’s softball gets into the swing of the game

The women’s softball team had the first win of their season Friday, April 3, against Henry Ford College.

“It’s always big to get your first win,” says head coach Steven Klinge. With no season last year due to not having enough players, all the team members this year were new to college softball. Klinge says that Jensen Tchorzynski has stepped up as an “on-the-field leader” for the team along with Tiffany MacIntosh and Taylor Wozniak.

“All that stuff such as communication that it takes a little time for a team to do, we’re starting to do,” says Klinge. He goes on to add that the team is starting to get the hang of college softball.

Saturday April 4, the team suffered a double loss against St. Clair Community College, losing the first game 11-6 and the second 7-1. They came back on Tuesday April 7 for a win against Mott Community College. After losing the first game 6-5, the team won the second game 6-5.

“That was the best double-header we’ve played so far,” says Klinge. The team’s current standings are 2-7.
