Seven must-see romantic movies in time for Valentine’s Day

As Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, we all might feel the need for a bit of romance. Whether you’re single, or with your significant, these are some great movies to get your feels on. 

  1. “Love Simon” (2018) – To the average eye, Simon Spier is just a regular 17-year-old guy in high school. But is hiding the secret that he is gay from his family and friends.  One day when he is online on the school gossip website Creek Secrets, he finds out an anonymous classmate is gay. Simon decides to contact him through a secret email account and falls in love with him after some time  What do you think will happen next?  Will Simon come out to his family? To know the answer, watch the movie
  2. “Sex in the City: The Movie” (2008) – For those of you who are “Sex and The City” lovers, you will love this blast from the past movie. Your favorites, Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha, are here and are not slowing down anytime soon. Mr. Big and Carrie might get hitched. Miranda is living her life with Steve and discovers news that will change her life and marriage. Charlotte is living her life with Harry and finds out from surprising years that will change her family dynamic. And Samantha is getting ready for a significant change in hers. Do you want to know what happens next, then watch the movie, and you’ll find out.
  3. “Holidate” (2020) – Imagine you are alone and you need a date for the holidays. Well, this is the case for Sloane Benson. One day when Sloane is out returning clothes from a Christmas gift she hates, she meets Jackson, a handsome man at the same store. After talking, they decide to be each other’s dates, only for the holidays (hence the word holiday). Do you think they will fall in love with each other, or will this be a major flop? Watch, and you’ll find out.  
  4. “Single All the Way” (2021) – LGBTQ rom-com that will go down in history books. Most of the time, when it comes to LGBTQ romance movies, the main element is forbidden love or the trouble of coming out. But in this movie, that is not the case. In this case, Peter, a marketing social media expert, convinces his best friend and roommate, Nick, a handyman, to come home for the holidays. But in the meantime, his parents want to set him up with James, a local ski instructor and fitness trainer in their hometown. Peter can stay close to his family. Do you think sparks will fly? Who do you think Peter will end up with? Watch and find out.
  5. “The Hating Game” (2021) – This movie is based on a book called “The Hating Game” written by Sally Thorne. So, for those of you who haven’t read it think about this. Have you ever had a colleague you just could not stand? Well, for Lucy Hutton, that was the case. She has been going through this rivalry with her colleague Joshua Templeman at the publishing company she works for. But the truth is that underneath all the hate, she is secretly attracted to him, and for Josh, underneath all the name-calling and teasing, he is secretly attracted to Lucy. So, do you think hate can turn into love? That will be up to you to find out.
  6. “Me before you” (2016) – Louisa Clark is just a small-town girl looking for a job after losing her employment at a local bakery. To have a steady income, she finds a job where she must assist a quadriplegic man named William Traynor. Louisa and William develop an incredible bond that has evolved into something serious. But William has a plan that will affect his life, his family, and the bond he has created with Louisa. This is not the classic romance movie with a storybook ending wrapped up in a pretty bow. But this story is the most meaningful one you’ll ever see.
  1. “Nappily ever after” (2018) – This story is about Violet Jones, her love life, and self-love within the black community. Violet Jones is a consummate professional and executive who is highly reserved in her ways of perfectionism. She lives the picture-perfect lifestyle with her boyfriend, Clint Conrad, who is a doctor, and she thinks he is going to propose, but things don’t go as planned to put it nicely. Throughout her journey in this film, she realizes who she is as a person and as a professional and meets another man along the way named Will Wright. What do you think will happen to her career and her personal life? Watch and find out.
