Smith has written and published three books. Two of the three books are poems about life’s hardships and God’s presence. The third book outlines Smith’s life and his journey to finding God. Smith’s purpose for writing these books was to share his story in hopes of inspiring others to find their journey with God.

“I was compelled to write these books,” Smith said, “I wanted to share what I’ve learned through my journey with others.”

He enjoys being creative. Writing poems has always been a passion of his. “I’ve written poems and stories for my own enjoyment since I was about 16 years old,” Smith said. “But one day, I decided to share my poems with the world, hoping that someone would also enjoy it.”

Smith’s wife, Karen, feels that he has inspired her since they met. “I am so proud of the work that he does,” Karen said. “Working so hard on three books in hopes of inspiring just one person is inspiring in itself.”

Charles Smith said that if he can reach just one person through his writing and make them feel seen, he served his purpose. He believes that if you feel passionate about something, you should go for it. Fear is the only thing holding you back.

Passions truly can become a reality if you put your mind to them. “Writing brings me peace,” Smith said, “I found my passion for writing at a young age, and it has helped me through some of life’s hardships.”

Smith has endured many hardships in his life, and writing has always been his safe haven. Writing can be freeing for the mind; it is a place to put your thoughts elsewhere. Smith encourages others to find something that they enjoy doing and put it out there for the world.

The Smiths have always encouraged their children to pursue what they enjoy. Creativity is essential, and you should live your life doing what you enjoy. The Smith’s daughter, Lauryn, has come to love doing makeup. She has started to advertise her skills and offers to do others’ makeup. “I enjoy creating with makeup, and I am good at it,” Lauryn said. “My parents have always encouraged me to find what I enjoy doing and make something out of it, so I did.”

The Smiths enjoy finding what they love to do and making it happen. Charles Smith believes that everyone has something to share with the world. Smith said. “Everyone has something to say that someone else needs to hear,” Smith said. “Don’t let anything hold you back because only you have the power to change your life and make it happen.”
