Dear Delilah,
I came to the realization today that I don’t know what I’m doing with my life. I am 22 years old, still in college, and thought I had my entire life planned out since I was 18. My major isn’t what I expected it to be, and my life is full of constant stress because of this. I have done different things to get out of my rut, but I feel like I am just watching everyone else around me succeed while I am stuck. Do you have any advice? Am I crazy for feeling this way?
Sincerely,
Someone whose reality is kicking in
Dear you,
Firstly, I can say that you are not crazy for feeling this way, and many have felt the same way. We are pressured growing up to have our lives figured out before we graduate high school. The thing is, everyone’s path is different. Some end up changing their major three times while others stay with the same one and end up disliking their careers. The best thing you can do for yourself during this time is taking a step back and find who you are. Find your hobbies and your passions, then lead with that. You have time to figure out what you want for your future and your life, don’t ever feel pressured and feel like you are running out of time. Your major of choice does not define your success; you do. Keep your head up, and remember that the good days are coming!
Sincerely,
Delilah
